In the studio, I am trying to explore my relationship with beauty, sexuality, and the body. My work is inspired by portraiture, photographs, zines, and contemporary and historical paintings of sex workers. Intimacy and closeness with the subjects are important to me; I have a relationship with all the subjects in my paintings and photography and seek to understand the way that they contextualise themselves as sex workers, women, or people in bodies assigned female at birth. The close, intimate settings of my work, such as bedrooms, champagne rooms, and locker rooms, are meant to show expressions of beauty and sexuality in their solitary form.
